One thing I have noticed about our time in the clinical sessions is how much I have been learning whilst assisting for the day. I know many people may tend to feel like assisting is a waste of time or they’re not learning as much as they would if they were operating, but I completely disagree. Just through observations alone, whether it may be observing operator-patient interactions or observing the process of working through a procedure and the way the patient responds to treatment etc. I have learnt so many things which have helped me when it has been my turn to operate.
